Offered here is a genuine 1851 Seated Liberty dime, struck at the Philadelphia Mint (no mint mark) more than 175 years ago, a decade before the Civil War. This is the Stars on Obverse, No Arrows type of 1838 to 1853, with only 1,026,500 struck. It is 90% silver.

Grade: Good+. Bold, complete date, all 13 stars, and Liberty's full outline, with a full rim all the way around. LIBERTY on the shield is worn faint, as is normal for Good. The reverse is a strong point: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and ONE DIME are complete and sharp, and the wreath and bow are fully outlined with some leaf detail.

Condition, please read: in fairness, this coin has scratches. The most noticeable is a long vertical scratch on the reverse running down through ONE DIME toward the bow. The obverse has a number of fine scratches across Liberty's figure and the fields, and there are fine marks on the reverse wreath. There are a couple of small marks on the rim. Even gray toning, darker at the edges. Please see all the photos, which are the best description.
