1847 Braided Hair Large Cent 1C XF Extremely Fine Toned Copper Early US PennyThe Braided Hair large cent was struck from 1839 to 1857 and was the last of the big copper cents before the small cent replaced it. This 1847 comes from the Philadelphia Mint. This exact coin grades XF in our opinion, with LIBERTY mostly readable and good detail in the hair strands and bead cords. It has olive-brown surfaces with red and violet toning and some iridescence. There are light hairlines on the cheek and neck, a small dark nick on the rim below the 8 of the date, and a few light marks in the reverse field. Please view all of the close-up photos. The writing on the flip this coin came in is from a previous owner. That is how we received the coin, and any grade or notes written on the flip are not ours.
