1837 Quebec Bank Habitant Token One Penny Deux Sous Lower Canada Breton 521 F

The 1837 Habitant tokens were issued by four Lower Canada banks during a shortage of small change. Each shows the bank's Concordia Salus arms with BANK TOKEN ONE PENNY on one side and a habitant (French-Canadian farmer) in winter dress with PROVINCE DU BAS CANADA DEUX SOUS on the other. Breton lists all of the penny tokens as Breton 521.

This is the Quebec Bank issue, with QUEBEC BANK on the ribbon under the arms. It is a Fine example with even brown color and readable legends on both sides. There are a few rim bumps and nicks along the bottom and left edge, shown in the photos.
