With a mintage of only \u003cstrong\u003e200,113\u003c\/strong\u003e, the 1946-D is the \u003cstrong\u003elowest-mintage\u003c\/strong\u003e of the three 1946 Booker T. Washington halves. The coin honors the first African American to appear on a U.S. coin, and the reverse shows the Hall of Fame above the slave cabin where he was born in Franklin County, Virginia: \"From Slave Cabin to Hall of Fame\".\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eGrade: Uncirculated (BU).\u003c\/strong\u003e There is no wear on the high points: the cheek, hair and the building on the reverse keep their full detail and luster, and the coin shows bright cartwheel luster as it turns in the light.
