Released to mark the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth, it was the first regular U.S. coin to feature a real person. Designer Victor David Brenner’s initials (VDB) appeared on the earliest strikes, but were removed within days after public complaints, so this no-VDB Philadelphia issue was struck in large numbers. Sharp lettering, strong hair detail and warm original surfaces.

Mint: Philadelphia (no mintmark)

Mintage: 72,702,618

Designer: Victor David Brenner

Composition: 95% Copper, 5% Tin and Zinc

Approximate grade: Very Fine to Extremely Fine (VF-XF)

Ungraded and uncertified. The exact container depends on the shipping class: for example, our Standard Envelope option is limited to a maximum of 1/4" thickness, so a bubble mailer isn’t used there.
