This 1853 Philadelphia issue (mintage 6,641,131) circulated in the decade before the Civil War.

This exact coin stands out for its attractive, smooth chocolate-brown surfaces — no heavy marks or porosity that plague so many large cents. Moderate even wear leaves the braided hair, stars, and wreath clear, consistent with the Fine letter grade.
