It is the Mature Head style of the Braided Hair design, used from 1843 to 1857.\u003c\/p\u003e\n      \u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eVariety:\u003c\/strong\u003e by our attribution using Grellman's \u003cem\u003eDie Varieties of United States Large Cents 1840-1857\u003c\/em\u003e, this appears to be \u003cstrong\u003eNewcomb N-6 (R-1)\u003c\/strong\u003e: the end of the lowest curl sits over the space between the 8 and the 4, and the bust tip sits over the left side of the 1. This is our attribution from photos, not a certification, so please check the photos and attribute for yourself.\u003c\/p\u003e\n      \u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eGrade: VG (Very Good).\u003c\/strong\u003e The outline of the bust, the hair curls and the bun are clear, and all 13 stars are outlined. LIBERTY on the coronet is worn away. On the reverse the wreath leaves are outlined with some detail remaining, and ONE CENT and the legends are complete and readable. Rims are full all the way around.\u003c\/p\u003e\n      \u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eCondition, please read:\u003c\/strong\u003e in fairness, there is a scratch through the CE of CENT on the reverse, scattered dark spots and light pitting in the obverse field to the right of the portrait, and small nicks on the lower left obverse rim.
